Before starting Upstatement, he worked in the newsrooms of the San Jose Mercury News, Boston Globe and magazines like Complex Magazine as well as as a freelancer. At Syracuse, Mike studied Journalism and Advertising Design before leaving for a job as Art Director of the Globe’s Sunday Ideas section. Mike was also an adjunct professor of graphic design at MassArt from 2009 to 2011.
